{Impact} One word. One Year. One Family's Journey.

Clearly He was moving us on, but to what, to where? We began to apply for other jobs in Medford, Portland, Bend, and even were accepted to work in two amazing ministry jobs one here in Medford and one in Salem. We turned down both jobs, feeling like we were CRAZY to do so, but knew that God had not closed the door on our passion for the sports community HERE in Southern Oregon.
I never would have thought a year would go by without a clear direction of what to do next or a regular salary paying job with benefits.
It has been such a time of highs and lows as we have learned to trust God in new ways and leaned on Him for his amazing provision for our family.
During this season our kids have learned what it means to live on the necessities. That to have fun as a family isn’t dependent on money being spent, that goldfish are a special treat rather than the standard, and that in all things we are a team!
Some people have asked me if I get sick of my husband being home so much or if that bugs me. How can I complain about having extra hands to do laundry, vacuum, do the dishes, and fold clothes! He is great at those tasks, but truly he has offered so much more to our family than just tasks around the house. He has been available to spend so much more time with our kids, go on field trips, do projects in the classroom and just be together as a family more than ever before. So, does he sometimes slow me down from getting all the things on my list done for the day, yes, but I would not trade the precious time where we have had a Dad and husband at home more just to have more money or a flat screen T.V. in our home. I would not trade the new high of our marriage because of having to work through this struggle together, communicate more, compromise more, and truly be a team trusting in our Great, Mighty, and All-Powerful God!!
God wanted our family to learn for ourselves what it means to be a team in order to go out into this community and work with athletes and coaches who are on a team.
After much prayer and long talks, my hubby and I wrote out a mission statement and 6 main purposes of how we would reach the sports world here in Medford if given the opportunity to start our own sports ministry. So, the dream of Southern Oregon Impact Athletics was born! As a part of that dream I have started Impact Cheerleading, a recreational cheerleading club, for ages K-6th grade. It has been such a blessing to teach and coach this team of girls to not only learn cheers, jumps, kicks, chants, dances, and stunts, but how to have the heart of a cheerleader.
It's our dream to one day have a building where we can run multi- sports leagues, camps, and programs from youth to adults and see many people come through the doors to experience sports in a whole new way.
To be honest we don’t have all the answers of how that dream will come to fruition, but we are trusting in the One who does! We are holding tight to the promises of the His Word and know that even though we don’t have much financially right now the Bible says to be rich in good deeds, be generous, and willing to share. That is what we desire to be. It doesn’t take money to share what we have, to have the heart of generosity, or to do good deeds for those around us. This is our heart, our journey we are on, to change one athlete’s life at a time.
